Ductile Iron is an alloy of Iron, Carbon and Silicon, also known as Spheroidal Graphite Iron or Nodular Cast Iron. The process of manufacturing Ductile Iron involves adding magnesium to low-sulfur molten iron. Due to the reaction with magnesium, the excess carbon (graphite) present in the iron forms as multiple small nodules and the resultant product is known as Ductile Iron.
